Marion Street Grille — Classic Food and Artwork
Exceptional Food, Outstanding Service, but What About the Artwork!
Wednesday Journal; January 19, 2005; Penny Murad

Marion Street Grille has been known for being a serious steak and seafood house for nine years. Owner Terry Thulis now says, "The Grille is becoming a showplace for interesting pieces of art." The Grille is pleased to present a showing by River Forest artist, Richard Anderson, who is nationally known for his outstanding woodcut prints and paintings. Many wonderful pieces of Mr. Anderson's artwork are on exhibit now at the Marion Street Grille, courtesy of "Frasier" star and local celebrity John Mahoney.

Mr. Anderson has worked as an illustrator, portraitist, industrial designer, commercial artist, graphic artist, and art director. His favorite medium is woodcut prints. He has been commissioned to paint over 70 state Congresspersons during the course of his career. One of his most impressive works is a 6' x 140' oil painting for the main dining room of the Austin Club in the historic old Millet Opera House in Austin, Texas. His attention to detail and the richness of his work are exceptional. His pieces are beautifully displayed against the red brick walls at the Marion Street Grille.

There could be no greater mingling than this great artwork and this amazing restaurant. The Marion Street Grille has been rated "Excellent" by Zagat's 2002-2003 Survey, which called it, "Quaint, Cozy, and Romantic ... a Regional Find!" It also has the distinction of achieving the rating of 3 forks by the Chicago Tribune. These exceptional accolades are richly deserved.

The Marion Street Grille is conveniently located in the Downtown Oak Park area — within walking distance of the Lake Theater. It's the perfect place for dinner and a movie. Many diners consider the Marion Street Grille their home away from home — the bar is the perfect place to meet and greet, and patrons can dine at the bar. The restaurant is also available for private parties and events.

The Marion Street Grille offers a special on Tuesday evenings — all bottles of wine are one-half off. Also scheduled in the near future will be a Sunday afternoon art showing with cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, and the dramatic backdrop of these fabulous paintings, many of which are for sale. Further information will be available shortly.
